The BIM structure adds intelligence to your 3D models. Once the model is structured it becomes universally useful ! Numerous information-rich by-products can then be easily created.

3D building information models / modelling (BIM) enable the geometry of the components of a building, the important attributes of each object and the relationships between them to be combined within the same workspace.

Often described as the “health record card” of a building, the BIM contains the history of all maintenance and modification operations carried out on the structure. Its life cycle can be followed from its conception and design through its construction to its delivery to the client, and on through its lifetime until its demolition. The BIM offers the engineer or architect numerous benefits, chiefly including the knowledge of the state of a building ahead of its renovation or restoration.

The digital model brings you information about the construction materials, the environment of the building, the quantities and dimensions of openings and on the setting out of the structure. The developers and designers can avoid unnecessary site visits and assess the risks involved in the various activities during construction.

Finally, the model is a decision-making tool because it enables you to visualise the existing (as-built) situation.
